about the artist

One of dance music's most exciting artists and DJs, London-based I. JORDAN is a true disciple of high-energy, high-emotion dance music.

One of dance music's most exciting artists and DJs, London-based I. JORDAN is a true disciple of high-energy, high-emotion dance music.

After holding down DJ residencies and promoting DIY parties across the UK for the best part of a decade, 2019 saw I. JORDAN take the plunge into releasing their own original music for the first time with an instant impact. Their initial run of singles on the Local Action label combined with riotous live appearances on Boiler Room and Keep Hush saw them picked as a key name to watch across the board, with early support coming from Ben UFO, Caribou, Sherelle, Four Tet, Annie Mac, Bradley Zero and more.

The next year, they went one better. Despite having their biggest shows to date cancelled due to Covid-19, their EP 'For You' was unanimously praised as one of the best releases of 2020. A deeply personal EP, inspired by growing up queer in the North of England, it swept the board in Best of 2020 lists from Resident Advisor (who named it the #1 track of the year), Pitchfork (#21), Crack (#2), NME, The Fader, Beatport, Gorilla vs Bear, Clash and countless others. Capping off a flagship year, I. JORDAN also won 'Best Breakthrough Producer' at the DJ Mag Best of British Awards, and won 'Breakout Star of the Year' on Pete Tong's iconic BBC Radio 1 show.

Able to perform live shows for the first time since their breakthrough, 2021 saw I. JORDAN take the world by storm. They appeared on the front cover of both DJ Mag and the NME, signed to Ninja Tune for the release of new EP 'Watch Out!,' and stole the show at festivals such as Field Day, Eastern Electrics, Lost Village and HORST, as well as a four-show residency for Manchester's Warehouse Project and a pair of ticketed London headline shows in May and November. On top of that, they won Mini-Mix of the Year at the BBC Radio 1 Dance Awards, delivered their first Essential Mix and hosted their own four-show BBC Radio 1 residency, which saw them focus on their own musical journey but also shine the spotlight on their community, with one show 100% focused on non-binary and trans artists.

With several releases already scheduled for the first half of the year, a nomination for Best Producer at the annual NME Awards and their first tour of North America in February/March, 2022 will only see I. JORDAN's star continue to rise.
