FULL BIO

Elyanna, the Palestinian-Chilean singer, songwriter, and performer, effortlessly bridges hearts across the globe with her soul-stirring blend of experimental Arab-pop, steeped with traditional authentic Arabic music influenced by enriching Latin American rhythms. Originating from the heart of Nazareth, Elyanna's musical journey is intricately woven with the fabric of her family life. Her musical talent was initially discovered by her brother, Feras. Encouraged by Feras to continue developing her musical prowess, Elyanna found the support and inspiration she needed within her family. Her musical odyssey further unfolded under the guidance of her father, Amer Margieh, who introduced her to the renowned Spanish performer, Julio Iglesias and Syrian tenor singer, Sabah Fakhry. This eclectic global blend of musical exposure ignited her passion, leading her to explore the depths of jazz and the rich tapestry of traditional Arabic music, all while honing her craft amidst the vibrant energy of her school and bustling streets of Nazareth. It was in these spirited surroundings that Elyanna found herself immersed in countless competitions and talent shows, culminating a budding fanbase far and wide.

Moreover, Elyanna attributes a significant part of her musical inspiration to her upbringing, where she was deeply influenced by the poetic verses of her grandfather, who was renowned for his performances at weddings and singing zajjal, a traditional form of poetic recitation often accompanied by music. Committed to her artistry from a young age, she immersed herself in various creative pursuits, from designing to spending hours singing to refine her craft. Alongside her mother and brother, who continued to foster her love for music, Elyanna's formative years were shaped by rich familial and cultural influences, laying the foundation for her distinctive artistic voice.

Elyanna's ascent to stardom commenced with a spark at the age of 15, igniting the interest of none other than Nasri Atweh, the Grammy-winning maestro behind chart-toppers like Justin Bieber and Pitbull. Introduced by Nasri, she found herself in the company of luminaries like Lebanese-Canadian sensation Massari and music mogul Wassim "Sal" Slaiby, forging pathways to global recognition.

After signing with Sal to Universal Arabic Music, and further gaining industry acclaim, the Margieh family made a pivotal decision: a transatlantic leap from Nazareth to Los Angeles, a testament to their unyielding belief in Elyanna's talent. Alongside her siblings — Tali, Elyanna's stylist, and Feras, her creative director/producer/pianist — her parents, Amer (father) and Abeer (mother), Elyanna's songwriter, became the steadfast pillars of her burgeoning career, infusing it with familial warmth and unwavering support. From tender moments of Elyanna's childhood, where she'd play dress-up in her mother's clothes and serenade the mirror, to the transformative decision to relocate continents, the Margieh family's story is intertwined with Elyanna's musical career, marking each step with love, devotion, and boundless determination.

Since then, Elyanna's global impact has reverberated with each release, notably her self-titled Elyanna EP in 2020, which introduced hit tracks like "Ana Lahale" featuring Massari. With over 100 million streams worldwide and acclaim from prestigious outlets such as Billboard Arabia, Cosmopolitan and Vogue Middle East, Elyanna's influence extends far beyond borders. Her prominence in the U.S. press is unmistakable, with esteemed features in Billboard, NYLON, Rolling Stone, and NPR, among others. Gracing the covers of Galore, Vogue, and Billboard Arabia, she has been recognized as one of Rolling Stone's 25 Rising Artists to Watch, further cementing her status as a rising pop icon.

As she refines her artistic vision, Elyanna eagerly anticipates the release of her debut album, Woledto, under Universal Arabic Music on April 12. This milestone follows her groundbreaking performance at Coachella, where she made history as the first artist to perform in Arabic at the renowned festival, as well as her recently sold-out debut North American tour, which showcased her blend of belly dancing, dabke, and other tribal fusion elements. Given her dedication to both singing and dancing from a young age, Elyanna is committed to curating an authentic and immersive experience in her live performances, ensuring her fans receive nothing short of a true artistic journey.

"The shows feel special and even though it was my first tour ever, people came fully on theme with coins, kuffiya, bandanas, etcetera." exclaims Elyanna. "It strongly felt like a community and a movement with the artist & the fans aligned in pushing one goal, on the same boat and we just all want to support each other. The bond and connection you build with fans and then being able to perform for them is different and nothing feels as rewarding as that to me."

Her dedication and devotion to her roots weaves its way into her debut album, Woledto. Translating to, "I am born," the project is truly a testament to her distinct blend of Arab-pop, traditional Arabic and Latin American rhythms. The album includes a number of tracks including beloved "Al Sham," focus track "Ganeni," and "Sad In Pali," that includes a sample from her grandfather.

"This album is my debut and it lives in its own world and despite being my first it is for me a rebirth of myself while at the same time serving as the unveiling of Elyanna," explains Elyanna on Woledto. "It's something I've never heard before, yet it feels nostalgic. It holds so much culture and it's Spanish inspired with a feature from my Grandfather. To me this album is a journey through identity, love, rage, feminism and is inspired by Palestine and the whole Arab diaspora."

Elyanna masterfully weaves together cultural motifs and personal anecdotes, each thread resonating with the vibrant hues of her heritage and the universal themes of unity and appreciation. With an unwavering commitment to her craft and a soulful dedication to her roots, Elyanna invites listeners into a realm where music becomes a conduit for connection, enlightenment, and boundless creativity.
