Longstreth founded the seminal indie band Dirty Projectors in 2002, earning widespread acclaim with the albums Bitte Orca and Swing Lo Magellan. In 2020, Dirty Projectors released the new 5EPs collection, and most recently in 2023, they reissued Mount Wittenberg Orca, their 2010 short album collaboration with Bjork.
